O, Zion Haste
Author: Joseph R. Terrell, pastor of Grace Community Church.
Composer: James Walch, 1837-1901,arr. Joseph R. Terrell, 1955-
This music was obviously inspired by the original hymn with this same title. However, the message to Zion is, "Thy God reigns," and that is the message she takes to the world. The church is never commanded to tell the world that God is love, but, "Say among the nations, 'The LORD reigns." (Psalm 96.10) Peter's message on the day of Pentecost was not that God loves, but that God has made Jesus to be Lord. This hymn lyric is designed to reflect that Scriptural distinction.

O Zion haste, Thy mission high fulfilling,
To tell to all earth’s peoples “Our God reigns”
That He who chose His people is not willing,
One son should perish, fail to heav’n attain.
Chorus
Publish glad tidings, Tidings of peace!
Tidings of Jesus, who reign shall never cease!
Behold the multitude Christ’s blood has purchased,
Ten thousand times ten thousand He has claimed.
They must be told what God for them has purposed,
‘Till each redeemed one calls on Jesus’ name.
From ev’ry people, tribe and tongue and nation,
God has reserved a people for His own.
Let us then go throughout the whole creation,
Taking the word, “We’re saved by grace alone!”
Father, we pray, by your eternal power,
Sinners You’d save to glorify your name;
Send men to preach in this, the gospel’s hour,
Give them Your grace to spread abroad your fame.
