Do You Believe God?

None who believe are lost and none who are lost believe. It is counted virtuous in some circles to say, "I believe the gospel, but I do not know if I am saved. I am not certain the gospel is for me." In that very statement they have openly demonstrated their unbelief. The Scriptures say, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved," yet they claim they have believed and are yet unsaved. How can this be? The truth is, they do not believe. They may believe the traditions they were taught and those traditions may include the doctrines of the gospel; but they do not believe God, they believe men. If they believed God they would be righteous in his sight, as Abraham who, "believed God and it was counted to Him as righteousness." In truth, anything short of trusting Christ according to God's promise is unbelief and reveals, "an evil heart of unbelief." Anything that keeps you from confidently casting your soul on Christ is antichrist. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life," says God, "and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." It's that simple.
