Choose Whom You Will Serve
“…choose
you this day whom ye will serve…”
Joshua
24.15
We know that every choice of man was first purposed
by God, and that none choose to serve the Lord except
by the grace of God. But this does not alter the fact
that we must and do choose, and not just once, but
every day. Serving the Lord is not a one-time affair,
so choosing to serve Him must be our continual purpose.
Each day we must resist the temptation to serve ourselves
or any other false god set before us and commit ourselves
afresh to Him Who loved us and gave Himself for us.
Faithfulness to the Lord does not come by accident.
In our flesh, we are no more inclined to serve Him
now than before we knew Him. Let us then, in our spirits
and by His Spirit, commit ourselves to Him anew, and
each and every day purposefully choose to serve the
Lord.
